Are you planning to go to the Nordic Permaculture Festival 2026? Here is what you might want to consider.

The Nordic Permaculture Festival began as a travelling gathering. It moved between Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. After completing the circle, it would start again — hosted by different places, shaped by different local contexts.

To understand the current situation, we need to go back to 2011.

The first Nordic Permaculture Festival was held at Friland, at Karoline and Tycho’s farm. It emerged from grassroots initiative. It was relational, rotating, and rooted in community.

On the Future of NordicPermaculture.org and Its Stewardship

Some time ago I received an email asking whether I would transfer the domains NordicPermaculture.org and NordicPermacultureFestival.org. The request came with the intention to use them as a shared Nordic platform for information, collaboration, and visibility.

Here is the message I received:

"Dear Dominik,

I hope you are doing well.

I’m reaching out to you regarding the two domains connected to the Permaculture network: NordicPermaculture.org and NordicPermacultureFestival.org.

Where are all the LAND centres we were promised?

The LAND (Learning Action Network Demonstration) model originates from the UK Permaculture Association. It was designed as a framework to help newcomers experience permaculture through demonstration sites. Despite its usefulness as a concept, LAND is not in itself a permaculture design. Andy Goldring has referred to it as an emergent design – something that developed organically rather than being built on a documented process from the start.
