July community day with talkoot 2026

Come hang out with us at Beyond Buckthorns on Friday the 24th of July! We're going to have a nice day together with enjoying the summer's day, and working together a little: harvesting, garden work, projects...   We'll be starting from 10 onwards. We'll do a potuck lunch and obviously coffee & cake breaks, and the sauna will be hot in the evening, and we'll dish out something tasty for dinner too. Come spend some time with us; you can also camp here Thu-Fri and/or Fri-Sat if you like. If you know you're coming, please send us a mail at perma (at) beyondbuckthorns.com! 

June Talkoot 2026

On the 25th of June we invite you to a summer Talkoot at Beyond Buckthorns. We have several tasks for the whole day that we'd like to get done while having a nice time with you all.  Depending on the weather we have the following planned: Clean up of the barn Planting new plants Weeding in the main garden Scything Charcoaling for biochar (if the weather permits it) We'll be starting from 10 onwards. Materials and tools will be provided by us. There will be tasty food served for lunch and obviously coffee & cake breaks, and the sauna will be hot in the evening.

International Permaculture Day Talkoot 2026

The first Sunday of May is International Permaculture Day. This year, 2026, it is the Sunday, 3rd of May and we invite you to our talkoot for a nice day of working and spending time together! We'll be starting from 10 onwards. We'll do season's work together: prepping the garden, perhaps some sowing depending on how the spring is springing, possibly firewood making, cleaning-up, maintenance and building projects - depending on who shows up and what's the weather like. There will be tasty food served for lunch obviously coffee breaks, and the sauna will be hot in the evening.

PermaBlitz: Cooking Swedish red paint & painting a barn

(suomeksi alla) Welcome to the Beyond Buckthorns painting party in Pälkäne, Laitikkala village, Finland on Sat 27.-Sun 28.5.! The purpose is to repaint an old building, which is increasingly being used for trainings through our Vihreä Pourusmäki association.

We will start on Saturday at 10am with cooking up the traditional Swedish red paint (great opportunity to watch and learn!), after which we will start painting with the said paint. We'll continue as long as we can, or when we finish 😃

Permablitz Design Camp

Come and design with us! On the 5th and 6nd of August Lumia and Nick host a permaculture designCamp (link goes to Nick's diploma design) at Beyond Buckthorns, our homestead in Pirkanmaa, Finland. Together with our participants we will design an area at Beyond Buckthorns.
