Profitable Food Cultivation Training, Iain Tolhurst (UK)

Estonian Permaculture Association is happy to arrange enriching training led by profitable practitioner.

This training day is for you if you want to learn:
- How a vegetable farm operates where, by the end of the season, the farmer, soil fertility, and natural biodiversity are all in the positive;
- How to plan crop rotations to ensure healthy plants and maintain soil fertility;
- What agroforestry is and how to integrate it with vegetable cultivation to enhance soil fertility and biodiversity;
- How to create the necessary fertilizers for plant cultivation on your farm without livestock;
- How to combine the cultivation of cover crops with vegetable growing;
- How promoting biodiversity can help you achieve higher yields.
- At Tolhurst Organic Farm, organic vegetables and strawberries are grown. Iain Tolhurst, who has been in the field for 40 years, is considered a pioneer of organic horticulture in England and is the co-author of the book "Growing Green: Organic Techniques for a Sustainable Future." He is a trailblazer in using techniques that improve soil health. The farm integrates green manures, wood chip production and use, reduced tillage, and biodiversity strips into a functional whole.
The training is open to small producers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and home vegetable growers.

Public Transport:
Bus 117a departs from Tallinn's Viru stop at 8:03 AM and arrives at Tiigi stop (23278-1) in Saku at 8:32 AM. From Tiigi stop, it's a 30-minute walk along the light traffic road to Kärneri Property. After the training, bus 117a departs from Tiigi stop in Saku at 7:21 PM to return to Tallinn.
The training day is organized by the Estonian Permaculture Association, established in 2018. The association aims to promote a design practice for human systems based on the principles of ecosystem functioning, thereby reducing the ecological footprint of humans and increasing nature's biodiversity.

9:30-10:00: Gathering and registration
10:00-12:00: Introduction and theory
12:00-13:00: Lunch
13:00-15:00: Theory and practice
15:15-15:30: Break
15:30-17:30: Theory and practice
17:30-18:00: Summary and conclusions
The training will be translated into Estonian.
